Justice Kagan said it plainly in dissent: the majority opinion had rendered Section 2 “all but a dead letter.” Justice Alito justified the gutting by pointing to two elections — 2008 and 2012 — the only two in American history where Black and white turnout reached parity. They were the years Barack Obama ran for president. He used the exception to erase the rule.
First they took preclearance in 2013. Now they’ve taken Section 2. The Voting Rights Act — written in blood at Selma — has been methodically executed, decision by decision, while the political class held press conferences and fundraisers.
The Court took your shelter. In Grants Pass v. Johnson, the Supreme Court ruled that the cruel and unusual punishment clause of the Eighth Amendment does not prohibit cities from punishing unhoused people for sleeping in public, even if they have nowhere else to go. A blanket. A pillow. A cardboard sheet. Now a criminal offense. CoreCivic reported $116.5 million in 2025 profits — a nearly 70% increase from the previous year. Poverty criminalized. Prisons profiting. The 13th Amendment’s slavery exception still intact. Same system. Different century.
DOGE took your job. Black women make up 12% of the federal workforce — almost double their 7% share in the overall U.S. workforce — and experienced the largest federal employment losses between 2024 and 2025. Black women’s unemployment rate skyrocketed to 7.5% in September 2025. Between February and July 2025, Black women lost 319,000 jobs in the U.S. labor market. White women saw a job increase of 142,000. White men saw the largest increase of all groups — a gain of 365,000. The broader economy was still adding jobs. These losses were not a recession. They were a policy outcome.
Project 2025 is the manual. The Trump administration signed 225 executive orders in 2025 — mostly drawn from Project 2025 — including ending DEI preferences, dissolving the Diversity and Inclusion Council and the Employee Engagement Council, and canceling DEI-related contracts valued at more than $2.6 billion. The shift in Small Business Administration contracting effectively increased the share of federal dollars available to white-owned companies from 85% to 95%. They called that fairness.
They’re coming for the 14th. Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter told local media: “I certainly hope the Supreme Court will overturn Amendment 14 — gives us a shot to revisit those elections.” The Fourteenth Amendment is the constitutional spine of Black citizenship. Equal protection. Due process. Birthright citizenship. Ratified in 1868 because states could not be trusted to treat Black people as human beings.
And the insult that seals it. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas — part of the 6-3 majority that just killed the Voting Rights Act — stood before a Miami judicial conference and praised the Constitution as America’s “common bedrock,” invoking Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, and Abraham Lincoln. He replaced Thurgood Marshall. He sits on the court that gutted the VRA, criminalized homelessness, and has spent a decade stripping the legal architecture protecting Black political power. The Compromise of 1877 at least had the honesty to be a trade. This is a performance.
PART TWO: THE COLLATERAL
While the blueprint above was being executed in plain sight, the Democratic National Committee was financing its own irrelevance.
The DNC borrowed $15 million. Not from the people they claim to represent. From bankers. From lenders who don’t care about your rent, your job, or your future. They care about being paid back — with interest. And who guarantees that debt? You do. Your vote does. Your loyalty does. Every two years you show up, deliver the margin, and walk away with nothing. That’s not a political transaction. That’s a collateral arrangement.
The numbers don’t lie. While the DNC was taking on debt it couldn’t cover, the AI and crypto economy crossed $8 trillion in combined market value. Torres represents the poorest congressional district in America and bought defense contractor stock as Congress voted on military aid. Jeffries is the House Democratic Leader.

TWO SEPARATE BUT CONNECTED ISSUES
TIP has previously stated its position on the administrative consequences
of failing to register: federal employment denied, student aid blocked,
job training programs closed, naturalization complicated. These consequences
fall disproportionately on young men from communities that were never
adequately informed the obligation existed. They operate without prosecution
or trial.
Today TIP addresses the deeper dimension: what Selective Service registration
actually represents. The Selective Service System exists to maintain the
infrastructure for military conscription should Congress and the President
authorize a draft. There is no active draft today. TIP is not predicting one.

WHAT THE LAW SAYS
Under the Military Selective Service Act, nearly every male U.S. citizen and
male immigrant between the ages of 18 and 25 is required to register within
30 days of their 18th birthday.
Failure to register is a federal felony.
Statutory maximum: $250,000 fine and five years in federal prison.
Criminal prosecution has been essentially dormant since 1986. Only 20 people
have ever been prosecuted in the history of the modern system.
The real penalties are administrative and permanent:
